Sharon joined with fellow Liberal Democrats in Aylesbury on the weekend to protest the building of The Gateway, the Tory council's new, lavish council chamber. The protest was timed to coincide with a party celebrating the opening of the building on 14th April.

Lib Dem PPC Steve Lambert said:

"It has cost taxpayers £9m to build The Gateway. That is money that could have been spent on affordable housing, community centres, or partly-funded a solar panels project throughout the vale making us the greenest council in the country, but instead the Tories have opted to spend all this money on a council chamber for their own vanity."

Sharon Bowles said:

"We hear a lot on the news from the Tories about cutting wasteful public spending but this latest extravagance proves the Tories are a 'do as I say, not as I do' party that know nothing of prudence during these difficult times. It is not a good sign for the people of Aylesbury to see their Tory council wasting such a large sum of money in this conspicuous way."
